Dr. Amy Hulme is Assistant Professor of Biomedical Science at Missouri State University. At her lab, she researches how retroviruses and mobile genetic elements use host cells to replicate. This important work looks at the early steps of HIV-1 replication, including reverse transcription, uncoating, and nuclear import. Dr. Hulme hopes her work will lead to the development of a vaccine or better drugs to prevent transmission. You can read more about her important work here.
