Dr. Eric Leuthardt

Meet Dr. Eric Leuthardt, Chief of the Division of Neurotechnology, Professor of Neurosurgery, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, and Director at the Center for Innovation in Neuroscience and Technology at Washington University School of Medicine. His research has focused on brain computer interfaces and brain mapping – using engineering approaches to decode the brain to create novel diagnostics and treatments for disease ranging from brain tumors, stroke, chronic pain, and spinal cord injury. Dr. Leuthardt and his team have just received FDA approval for a first-of-its kind device that helps people disabled by stroke regain significant control over their arm and hand function by using their minds.
