Melissa Lewis, Ph.D. is an Associate Research Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Dr. Lewis has focused her research on Indigenous Health Research, Cardiovascular Disease Disparities, and Stress and Trauma. Native American youth in the U.S. experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease compared to their non-Indigenous counterparts.
